Although years after World War II had passed, the question of military necessity and morality in the use of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki still proceeded till today.
Although there can be multiple perspectives, my perspective on this question is that dropping the atomic bomb is not justified. Why? During that time, Japan barely had any allies, or more like it didn't have any allies to support the nation for any more causes. With the navy nearly destroyed and its islands under a naval blockade, and in addition to the amount of resources available in the US to use against Japan and the threat of the Soviet invading, Japan’s stance at that time can already be stated as “defeated”. With full aware of this fact, and with despite their nation's glory, Japan was still ready to surrender even before the first atomic bomb attacked. Thus, dropping an atomic bomb is more than necessary. Dropping the bomb may be argued that it was a swift end to the war; however, is that all the US is aiming for? The United States also aimed at keeping the Soviet Union in place in Europe by demonstrating the bomb’s power and aftermath (though it did not succeed in preventing the cold war from happening since the Soviet Union were just a few steps behind atomic bombs) without knowing much about both physically and mentally effects on Japanese civilians.
Overall, dropping the atomic bomb in Japan is not justified, ending the war swiftly is only an excuse to "revenge" for what the Japanese had done –– inhumane treatment of prisoners of wars (POW) and to the citizens in areas they've invaded, and also the aggressive attack on Pearl Harbor.
